Honda demonstrates Collision Mitigation Brake System

Statistics show that in half of all accidents drivers do not apply enough force on the brake pedal when they are trying to avoid a crash- they may think they’re breaking hard, but it’s only a portion of the total braking available.

This gives a huge potential to eSafety systems providing braking support to the driver in case of dangerous situations. Emergency braking represents an aid for effective braking in critical situations. The emergency braking detects when there is a clear danger ahead and helps the driver in its effort to avoid the accident by applying extra braking force within fractions of a second. Emergency braking can limit the impact if an accident is unavoidable and in many cases help you to avoid having an accident at all.

Divers often have the wrong perception of the braking distance of the vehicle at a given speed and distraction of the driver in a fraction of a second can easily make an accident unavoidable if the vehicle in front suddenly brakes or stops.
