ESC penetration rates improved in 2007

The recently published ESC penetration rates for new car registrations in Europe show a slight improvement.  In the first half of 2007 the installation rates increased from 43% to 47%. Comparing the major European countries there is a remarkable increase in Italy (6%, passing from 35% to 41%) and Spain (5%, from 50% to 55%).

Despite the good progress a lot of work has to be done in the A- and B-segments. In both segments 85% of all cars are not available with ESC - not even as an option. These two categories represent 44% of all car sales in Europe and are often driven by young, inexperienced drivers.
